"As you make the choice to honor your spiritual standards
by passing up good for great, a Divine presence often
delivers more than you could every imagine."
~ Stand Up for Your Life page 182
That's my favorite Cheryl quote. Years ago (before Cheryl was even on Oprah) I had the opportunity to watch her put this into practice. 'Take Time for Your Life' had just come out, and like every good author, Cheryl was taking it on the road. We had invited her to Philadelphia and she had agreed. Later more opportunities for appearances around the area showed up. Good opportunities to talk to lots of people and get the book out there. I was on the phone with Cheryl as she took a deep breath, checked in with her wise self and said: "No. Just one event."
Good for great? The event was in January. We got Cheryl in and out between two blizzards that closed the airports. The people who would have come to the other events came to the main one. It was a smashing success.
How did she know? She couldn't predict the outcome, but what Cheryl knew was that when we honor our spiritual standards and values "a Divine presence often delivers more than you could every imagine."
Spiritual standards are rules you choose to make that will honor the essence of who you are . In order to honor our spiritual standards we must know what they are. Examples of some universal standards are listed on page 182.
Among mine I list:
Being present to myself and others
Seeing Divine in self and others
Practicing gratitude
Self care first
What are some of yours?
by passing up good for great, a Divine presence often
delivers more than you could every imagine."
