Having been involved with a LM group for 3 years now we've tried many things and here are some that worked.
The week of the meeting an email goes out to see who will be there. It's a great reminder too.
We share info via email not just at the meetings.
We sign up to lead a book at a time so the number of weeks we think it will take to complete is the number we schedule and always have a lead and a back up. Life happens.
You don't have to sign up if you don't want to.
We meet once a month for social time different than our meeting times.
We have always met at the local Starbucks and not a members home. No pressure.
Everyone gets a chance to talk and most importantly to be heard. Most people don't get the opportunity to be heard. People just want to jump in with their thoughts and not really listen to what you are saying. That is something we constatnly work on and the leader makes sure it is honored.
We make deep connections, not just hi, how are you. Relationships is the key to life. Don't pass up this great opportunity.
No whining. You get 2 min. at the most.
