I would like your help
I am interested in either fathers or sons who have or have had estranged relationships AND who have tried to work things out.
I am interested in this subject as research for a film script I am writing about an estranged father and son.
I am choosing to write about this subject because I know of so many adult men and young men who have and are experiencing this situation.
Briefly, in my film Jason is turning 18 soon and decides to visit his father whom he has not seen since he was around 6-years -old.
Jason is a “ well adjusted “ kid. Does well in school and has a girlfriend who is madly in love with him. Jason gets along well with his mother and has a tolerant relationship with her long time boyfriend. Jason’s mother is a successful realtor. Her boyfriend is a professor at the local University.
Jason’s father, Jack ( short for Jackson ) , has stayed in touch with him through infrequent letters and gifts on holidays . Jack has remarried and now has two small sons, one seven and one five. Jack’s wife is due at any time with their third child , at the time Jason goes to visit.
Through a variety of circumstances Jason and his father end up alone together for several days. It is during this time that the feelings of both the father and the son will be expressed.
My goal for Jason and his father is to help them get to the point where they can begin their relationship again.
