Nourishing Lavender Milk Lotion

"While speaking at a women’s conference a few years back, I picked up a sample bottle of Nourishing Lavender Milk lotion. One quick whiff and I could tell it was made with real lavender – a clean, subtle smell that always makes me say, “Ahhhh.” I especially loved how the lotion felt on my skin – silky smooth without feeling too greasy or goopy.  Once I ran out, I quickly ordered more and have been using it ever since.

When I contacted the manufacturer, I was pleased to learn that the lotion is made of pure ingredients – witch hazel, soy oil, beeswax, calendula, lavender essential oil, lecithin, borax, and xanthan gum – nothing toxic or dangerous. I was relieved (and excited) to find something so clean since I’d read an article by Dr. Susan Lark who shared some disturbing news about the amount of toxic chemicals found in women’s cosmetics and body care products. These ingredients – alcohols (ethyl and isopropyl), Parabens, Propylene Glycol, or Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulfate, to name a few, penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream, potentially damaging the body.  (You can read more in the June, 2004 issue of her newsletter, The Lark Letter).

The Nourishing Lavender Milk is not only a terrific body lotion, it’s gentle enough to be used on your face, so it replaces expensive moisturizers.  It’s also great for kids (barring any allergies to the ingredients, of course).
